Oh No! Freakin out a bit. County vs Private Agency

I just received an email from my FW that we'll be getting letters in the mail indicating that our agency has decided to get rid of their foster care department. In addition to worrying about my worker's job (she has been great!), I don't know how this will affect me and more importantly, what happens if the girls come back into care, and/or Chubbs gets a new sibling into care???

So, apparently they want to focus their resources on kinship care {since that has been SOOOO successful!!!! NOT!!!} and will "buy" private care foster care. So, we'll be able to transfer our licenses to the private agency. They are supposed to be having meetings next week and I am not even sure I will be in town then. :-(

I am really worried now. I may never get that forever daughter. How many kids that get adopted are from private agencies? I always thought private agencies were primarily for medically fragile, emotionally challenged, and or very short term placements. In fact, they are so difficult to work with, when I got called for a placement the weekend i got Chubbs, the intake worker begged me to take the child because I was the only FP who called her back that night and if she didn't get someone, she'd have to go to an agency.

I also think it means that rules on transportation may change (my agency transports kids >2). I can't transport during the day because I am a single working parent.

Oh, I so did not need to hear this three days before finalizing my adoption.

Anyone have this happen to them?
