Torbit?s Insight Measures The Affect Of Site Speed On Your Bounce, Conversion & Revenue

torbit_black_largeAnyone who runs a website, especially those who those who do the majority of their business through a web portal, know how important speedy load times are to keeping their customers engaged, on site, and happy. While there are a number of sources one can turn to for website optimization, few offer both optimization along with the ability to track incoming pageviews and cross-reference their page load times with bounce rates -- and most importantly -- conversion rates. That's why Torbit, a website optimization company based in Sunnyvale, has launched a new product called Insight, which gives any online business the ability to track the correlation between the speed of their website and their core business metrics. Users can view site speed using real user measurement, and drill down to see precisely where pages are hitting snags -- and what's causing those hang-ups.

Two-thirds of Americans unwilling to spend over $50 a month on mobile data, says Parks Associates

Two-thirds of Americans unwilling to spend over $50 a month on mobile data, says Parks Associates

In a recent report titled Mobile Data and Applications, research outfit Parks Associates found that a large chunk of Stateside consumers aren't willing to pay more than $50 per month for a mobile data plan. What's also interesting here -- but not surprising -- is the study shows nearly 50 percent of smartphone users are completely oblivious to the amount of data they're consuming every month. Parks Associates says this highlights the "risk" networks like AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile are taking by making the transition from all-you-can-have to those tiered data plans we're so fond of. The firm's Mobile Research Director, Harry Wang, sees this as a necessity for carriers, though, expressing that "moving mobile users to usage-based plans will be difficult and painful, but changes are necessary for operators to maintain revenues." So, are you part of the two-thirds keeping bits under 50 bucks? Let your voice be heard in the comments below.

In Milan, more residents answer to Hu than Ferrari

A list of the most common names in Milan revealed the extent to which immigration has changed the character of the business-oriented city.?

For decades the family name of ?Brambilla? has been by far the most common in Milan ? to the point that throughout Italy, where family names were originally strongly associated with geography, people still jokingly refer to Milan folks as ?Mister Brambillas? or ?Sciur Brambilla? (?sciur? being the world for ?Sir??in Milanese dialect).?

So when the local council published a list of the most common names in the city last week, many were surprised to find out that Milan has many more residents known as ?Mister Hu? than ?Mister Brambilla.?

Among the ten most common family names in Milan, three were of Chinese origin, pointing out how ethnically diverse this city in northern Italy has become. On the list, ?Rossi," a name common in Italy but not closely associated with the North, comes first, while Hu, of Chinese origin, is a close second. They are followed by five other typically Italian (but not typical specifically of Milan) names. In eighth is another Chinese name, Chen, while uber-Milanese ?Brambilla? comes only ninth, followed by yet another Chinese name, Zhou.

Think you know Europe? Take our geography quiz.

In the last three decades, a growing numbers of migrants, both from the rest of Italy and from abroad, have settled in Milan, mostly drawn by job prospects in the most business-oriented region of the country. Today one in every five Milan residents is either a foreign national or a descendant of migrant workers.

The Chinese community is one of the oldest in the city, dating back to the first wave of the immigration in the early 1900s. While some other nationalities, particularly from?Eastern Europe and North Africa,?are more numerous, Chinese names are predominant because there is less variety among last names.

?To us this whole comes as no surprise,? Luigi Sun, a representative of Milan's Chinese community of Milan, told the daily newspaper?Republica. ?We have known for a long time Hu is one of the most common names in the city. We have more serous stuff to think about.?

The most common names in Milan:?

  1. Rossi (Italy's most common name)
  2. Hu (Chinese)
  3. Colombo (most common in northern Italy, but not necessarily associated with Milan; the famous explorer Cristoforo Colombo, known in English as Christopher Columbus, was from Genoa)
  4. Ferrari (associated both with central and northern Italy)
  5. Bianchi (another very common name throughout the country)
  6. Russo (a variant of Rossi)
  7. Villa (a typical Milan name)
  8. Chen (Chinese)
  9. Brambilla (once thought to be Milan's most common name)
  10. Zhou (Chinese)

Google raises Gmail to 10GB free, 10-fold increase since launching in 2004

Eight years ago one gigabyte of online storage was a remarkable thing. One gigabyte of email? Preposterous, but that's exactly what Google offered back in 2004 with the launch of Gmail, and now that factor is increasing. Current Gmail users were floating at around 7.5GB of storage but, as part of all the Google Drive hoopla, that storage is now officially up to 10GB. That's a lot of spam and, for those of us who are already paying extra for more storage, it's even more room to grow before we upgrade to the next tier.

Image

Now that the Ivy Bridge cat is out of the bag, you can expect to see a deluge of press releases from PC makers over the coming weeks, each of them saying that this computer or that is getting refreshed with Intel's latest processors. From Acer, at least, we expect multiple announcements: it's only ready to talk about a couple of desktops today, with news around laptops and Ultrabooks coming later. Right now, you can choose from several configurations of the Predator AG3620 gaming tower, with the top-shelf $1,200 model packing a 3.4 GHz Core i7 3770 CPU, NVIDIA GT630 graphics, 16GB of RAM and 2TB of storage space. On the budget end, the $799 Gateway D4860-UR14P will feature a 3.1 GHz Core i5 3450 processor, 6GB of RAM and a 1TB hard drive. Both are available now -- you know, if you've been waiting for precisely this sort of thing.

Use Cautious Techniques to Select SEO Article Writing Services

Online businesses are making their strong and vibrant position in corporate world. Almost every business has now launched its online branch to make their presence prominent in online business domain. Competition is becoming tight and due to the stern competitive circumstances, new marketing techniques are receiving great popularity. Business owners are now eager to adopt all possible methods to market their services and products. For vigorously running your online marketing campaign, SEO articles are a recognized source to turn the situation in your favor.

With lots of other marketing companies, SEO article writing services are a dominant part of online promotion methods. It is always good to hire people skilled and experienced in their relative fields, so SEO article writing services can be the best solution of your marketing problems.

They have well acquainted and specialized staff that can raise the ranking and visibility of a webpage by adding relevant informative and entertaining stuff into a business site to attract more visitors. There are numerous services that are willing to reduce your troubles and take the marketing task happily, of course for a fee.

If you really want to take complete advantage of a service then you have to make sure that you chose a right group for your business marketing. Ask suggestions from people you know and trust because it is feasible that some of them have already attached to any reliable specialized writing service, take complete advantage of their experience as this will surely save your time and energies. You always want to hire group of people who must have experience, expertise and skills.

But if you really desperate to receive maximum out put by a service then you have to have sufficient know how of the SEO system and its operations because prior information would definitely devote you the chance to examine and observe the reputation of a service you are going to hired.

For achieving marketing objective, being a business holder it is your key task to assess the quality of the content that is actually going to work as your regent on the webpage.

Another convenient and suitable online marketing option is freelance sites where you can make a sound deal with a SEO writer on per need basis. You can post your project details and requirements on these sites for bidding. You will also be able to observe the bidder's profile and can easily come to know their previous performance and feedback of customers.

It is financially a nice option because you can take the advantage according to your conditions but this alternative is a risky one because as here people can easily deceive and hide and it is quite difficult to retrieve your money. So, it is again highly advisable that not to randomly select a freelancer or a service, for both alternatives you have to carry out a market assessment and then according to the results select them. Acquiring market distinction, SEO article writing services are the basic prevalent technique for business promotion to drive in maximum visitors.

Say What You Need To Say And Do What You Have To Do

It?s not enough. ?Conversation, or lip-service (as my dad calls it), is not enough. ?It?s true, we need all the inspiration and encouragement that we can find, but action has to follow all that self talk.

dirty hands

According to Susan L. Reid in ?Why Positive Affirmations Can Be a Business Liability,?

?People don?t succeed with their business simply by staying positive and thinking good thoughts.?

You Have To Get Your Hands Dirty: Do The Work

Wishing just doesn?t build businesses. Susan gives 3 tips to help you move beyond the affirmation. And once you?re ready for action why not start with a little marketing strategy.

After the personal pep talk, it?s time to get moving. In ?Match Your Marketing Style to a Killer Marketing Strategy? Ivana Taylor helps you promote your business online according to your communication/marketing style.

Are you an introvert or an extrovert??Ivana gives a quick plan for each. And if you?re like me, you walk that middle road personality test after personality test, then take tips from both sides. ?The point is to get unstuck by playing to your natural communication style. Grab what works and implement one at least one this week.

And here?s one last thing to consider.

Take action, But Don?t Hurt Yourself

In ?Are Big Companies Better Innovators Than Small Ones?? Anita Campbell says,

?With limited resources in staff and financing, getting a new idea off the ground can be far more difficult and take longer than it does for a big company. And, since small companies are typically obsessed with saving money on legal fees, they may skip key steps that are essential to protect their ideas.?

I understand that small business obsession to save money, and while it?s true that resources don?t run as deep inside small companies as they do in corporations, what we can ?afford? ? on some level ? is governed by perception. Ultimately, we can ?afford? whatever we have to.

It?s just a matter of understanding the benefits for expenses like legal fees, the cost of marketing, staff training and better customer service.? Once you get the value, you can always find a way to make it work.

Say what you need to say to keep yourself inspired, but do what you have to do to keep yourself moving forward.

Huawei Ascend G312 (U8680) lands at FCC, unsurprisingly sports T-Mobile myTouch moniker

Image

It's far from a secret that T-Mobile has been cooking up its next myTouch handset with Huawei (also known as the Ascend G312), and now a phone bearing the same moniker has landed at the door of the FCC. According to the label location diagrams, it plays nice with HSPA, UMTS, GPRS, GSM and Edge, but there's no indication of whether this Huawei U8680 is the QWERTY variant we spotted at the company's headquarters. If you'll recall, Huawei has this 4-inch (WVGA) device pegged to ship with Android Ice Cream Sandwich, running atop a 1.4GHz Qualcomm MSM8255T SoC with 1GB of RAM that's supplemented by 4GB of on-board storage. Of course, this doesn't leave us with any more information about when T-Mobile will officially debut this next-gen myTouch, but for now, you can can view the currently available FCC documents at the source link below.

First Asus G55VW gaming laptop configuration spotted and priced

ASUS's G-series has been warming the laps of gamers for a while, whether it's the smart G74 or the elder statesman G73JH. The newest splinter of the G-team, however, is the G55 line. Right now, it's the G55VW-DS71 that's just had its specifications splayed out for all to see. It'll be a quad-core i7-3610QM Ivy Bridge chip calling the shots, with a 2GB NVIDIA GTX 660M providing graphical backup. A solid 12GB of DDR3, 1,333MHz RAM and a 750GB HDD will come with the configuration mentioned here. There are two drive bays, though, so you can set it up to your liking, and higher spec versions of this 15.6" machine will be coming in the future. It's only up for pre-order at the moment, but $1,475 will make sure it finds its way to you once released, hopefully around the end of this month -- the Intel gods willing.
